Phoenix series - Error Messages Troubelshoot

Overview:

This article lists common error messages on Phoenix scanners and provide guidance on how to do relevant troubelshoot by yourselves. If this article doesn't answer your questions, please contact support@topdon.com

1. The device failed to autoVIN and failed to recognize the car when manually input the VIN.

Dear user, you're advised to troubelshoot as follows:
(1) Please check the network status, autovin requries to retrive data from online server, a network issue will influence the data loading. You can connect to another wifi or hotspot to test.
(2) For older vehicles before 2010, the vehicle configuration data is not saved on the server, thus the device cannot auto detect the VIN.
(3) If the 2 steps above don't help, the vehicle may not support autovin

2. An error "failed to update the text file" pops up when doing Ford special functions on Phoenix Pro.

3. Setup internet connection when doing BMW F/G chaissis online programming.

Please follow the instructions below:
(1) enter system settings menu > USB management > turn on the USB switch;
(2) enter Phoenix Max > Userinfo > Settings > MDCI Pro management > select Use Wifi communication mode
(3) start ecu programming

4. Phoenix Pro fails to connect to wifi.

Please troubleshoot as follows:
(1) Set the frequency band of the wireless router to 2.4Ghz and the encryption type to WPA2 mode (due to hardware problems, the 5Ghz frequency band is not supported and the encryption type is WPA3 mode WIFI)
(2) Perform a system update, make sure it's the latest version.

5. The scanner prompts " programmign file download failure" when doing ecu programming.

The possible reasons are listed as follows:
(1) there is no programming file on the server so the programming cannot be operated.
(2) please check the internet connection.
(3) please send the problem description and your region to support@topdon.com to see if there is IP restriction, and ask for a vpn to test again;

6. The device prompts "not enough storage" 

It is recommended that you try the following steps:
(1) Go to device Userinfo > Settings > Clear cache;
(2) Enter the device system settings to check the remaining storage space and try to clear some unused files, pictures or videos;
(3) Go to User Information > Diagnostic Software Clear > Select some unused vehicle software to delete to free up some space.
(4) Perform a factory reset and then re-download the vehicle software needed.
